Personality disorder traits

Living with intense emotions and long standing emotional difficulties can feel tiring, confusing and overwhelming.

You may feel emotions very deeply, struggle to manage emotional reactions or find yourself caught in painful relationship patterns that continue to repeat despite your best efforts to try and change them. At times emotions may feel so intense that they become difficult to cope with, leaving you feeling emotionally drained, ashamed and misunderstood by those around you.

Many people I work with describe:

~overwhelming emotions that feel difficult to manage

~fear of rejection or abandonment

~unstable or painful relationships

~feeling emotionally sensitive or reactive

~chronic feelings of emptiness or numbness

~intense anxiety, anger or sadness

~difficulties with self- worth or identity

~patterns of people pleasing or conflict

~struggling to feel emotionally secure or understood

These experiences can leave you feeling like you are "difficult" or "a problem", particularly if you have spent a long time feeling misunderstood, criticised or even blamed for how intensely you experience emotions.

Often these emotional and relational patterns develop for understandable reasons and may be connected to earlier life experiences, trauma, attachment wounds or environments where emotional needs did not feel fully understood, supported or safe.

Over time coping strategies that once helped you survive emotionally can begin to create further distress within relationships, self esteem and day to day life.

How therapy can help

Therapy can help you observe these patterns and understand them from a more compassionate position rather than self criticism.

Together we can work towards:

~understanding emotional triggers and patterns

~improving emotion regulation

~ developing healthier coping strategies

~ building more stable and fulfilling relationships

~increasing self understanding and compassion

~reducing shame and self criticism

~feeling more emotionally grounded and secure

I have particular experience supporting people experiencing emotion dysregulation particularly where this is linked to personality disorder traits.

My approach is compassionate, non- shaming and focused on helping you feel emotionally supported, understood and empowered to create meaningful change.
