About Me

Hello, I'm Shakeera.

I’m a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist who works with adults and young people experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and difficulties managing intense feelings.

I offer a calm, supportive space where you can slow down, make sense of what’s happening for you, and begin to find ways forward that feel more manageable.

Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns of worry, overthinking, self-criticism, or emotional ups and downs. Together, we explore what might be driving these patterns and develop tools to help you respond to your emotions in healthier, more compassionate ways.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices.

I integrate skills from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Attachment Theory and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), particularly around emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and building a life that feels more balanced.

I have been training and working in the Mental Health field for over 17 years and I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have extensive experience working in education, in a forensic setting and in private practice.

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and not judged. My aim is to create a space where you can speak openly about what’s going on for you, whether that’s anxiety, relationship difficulties, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, or simply feeling lost and unsure about what you need.

Alongside my clinical work, I’m passionate about helping people learn practical emotional skills that can be used in everyday life. This includes developing workshops and resources focused on emotion regulation and understanding our emotional responses.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s normal to feel uncertain about reaching out. If you’re considering working together, you’re very welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation.
